Pound Pals of Radford's Adoption Agreement

Thank you for saving a life by adopting a shelter animal.

Pound Pals places animals as companions in screened homes to ensure there is a good match between the animal and the family. We request a completed application and a home visit prior to adoption. We are happy to provide any information you need on Pound Pals animals, so feel free to ask. Our funds are limited for long distance phone calls. Please email us and we will reply as promptly as possible.

I am acquiring a companion to love and enjoy.

• It is a privilege to provide a home for this an animal and I have a responsibility to care for my companion animal during its lifetime.
• The animal will be treated with respect and affection as a member of my family.
• The animal will be an indoor companion.
• When outside, the animal will be fenced or leashed and under proper supervision.
• The animal will not be left alone, unduly confined, or crated for excessive periods of time.
• The animal will be provided with appropriate exercise, training, toys, companionship, mental stimulation and socialization with other animals.
• The animal will be provided with annual veterinary examinations and treated for any ailments, disease or injury in a timely manner.

I am not impulsively obtaining a animal.

• I have consulted the other members of my household and understand how it will change my lifestyle.
• I know my responsibility regarding proper food, water, housing, medical care, training and expense.
• I am aware of society's animal surplus problem and how I can help.
• I will comply with the terms of the Sterilization Agreement, if the animal was too young to be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
• I will obtain information on correct training of my animal and attend obedience classes, if necessary.
• I will have tattoos or identification tags on my animal at all times.
  
• I will follow state and local animal laws and prevent it from infringing on the rights of others. I will register/license my animal as required by local ordinances.
  

I will not abandon my animal.

• If I cannot properly care for my companion, I will notify Pound Pals of Radford, Inc.
  
• If my animal is lost, I will notify Pound Pals of Radford, Inc.

Pound Pals of Radford, Inc. will take back any animal with notice sufficient to provide for transport and alternative housing.

This animal shall not be transferred to any person, organization, shelter, or rescue without the written permission of Pound Pals of Radford, Inc.

Pound Pals of Radford, Inc. follows-up on adoptions to ensure that there are no problems. I understand and accept that I will receive contact from a Pound Pals volunteer who will inquire about the adopted animal.

If the terms and conditions of this agreement are not upheld, Pound Pals of Radford, Inc. reserves the right to terminate this agreement and to reclaim the animal.

I have received my animal's medical records from Pound Pals of Radford, Inc. I understand that basic vetting has been performed and Pound Pals of Radford, Inc. makes no claims regarding his/her medical/health condition.

I understand that my adoption donation is non-refundable.

I attest that I have never been convicted on any charges of animal neglect, animal abandonment or animal cruelty.
